 Headache

There are many reasons and types of headaches that have different characteristics. A headache can be described as pain or discomfort in the head, scalp, or neck. There are 4 common headaches: tension, cluster, and migraine with/without aura.

Headaches can be caused by many many things. A frequent and overlooked cause of headaches is the malfunction of the alignment of spinal bones in the neck and upper back. When bones of the spine lose their normal position or motion (subluxation), sensitive nerves and blood vessels to the head can be affected. When spinal nerves and related tissues are stretched or irritated (nerve entrapment), they can produce throbbing headaches. Some aggravating factors may be: stress, dehydration, light sensitivity, depression, anxiety, not enough sleep, skipped meals, drugs, alcohol, chocolate, monosodium glutamate (MSG), cheese, grinding teeth, poor sleep position. Aspirin and medications may cover up these warning signs, but do not correct the underlying structural cause. Chiropractic has been shown to help headaches
